Hi folks, I'm trying to collect the right kinds of pedals needed for rock music. I currently have a wah and was considering a phaser (probably an MXR though I'm open to suggestions for a cheaper one). My amp has overdrive, and I have an old fuzz pedal I might be able to repair.Are there any other kinds of pedals you'd recommend? For reference, I prefer to play rock with some Latin jazz flair and I play flamenco on the acoustic.

I suppose wah a'la clyde mccoy as well, and I'd like to say Echoplex. Those are the big original effects that sparked the guitar effects world and were found on pretty much everybody's boards at the time. And are VERY notable in history of music as renowned sounds.

Reverb should be there by default, from the amp or pedal despite rock or not. I suppose my list does partially answer to that too. Echoplex has a characteristic preamp which is cloned into boosts, it's also a delay. Rangemaster/treble boost is a boost with mid focus.

Phaser would be either ehx small stone variant or mxr phase 90. Similarly into the front of amp like echoplex was. For chorus it could be boss ce-2, ch-1, mxr or any other chorus you really like.

Neon genesis evangelion cast. For flanger electric mistress clones are worth considering. Flanger has often been interpreted as chorus on classic records. Overdrives are vast, something tubescreamery is useful for boosting.

Checking out RAT distortion is also worth it, iconic.Your best bet really is doing the obvious: googling whose tone you like and checking their pedals. 1 and 2 are pretty much a given, #3 is a wild card.That's a bog standard setup to start with, and it will get you a long way. Also, don't overlook your pickups/pots/caps. If you want a consistently hotter sound, put hotter pickups in.
