I suggest playing a hot seat in Maze of Shadows on hard. Make sure there are no AI. Run through the map on one faction as normal and take the faction you want to lose into a very weak position.

The losing faction should have nothing but creatures and a market. The map has a Dragon Utopia, so do that every month for a bit while you are building your army. Once you have something powerful enough to sweep your oppponent, save, and buy as many heroes as you can of the same affinity as the weapon you want to level.

Now, take your entire army, and all the heroes, and park them in front of the opponents castle. Kill the opponent, go to the main screen, load the last save again, switch heroes, and do it again and again until the weapon is leveled. Once that is done, load the older save, buy more heroes, and do it some more. An even easier way is to create a hotseat game on a very small map.

Clear the creep blocking the way to the other town and then create as large an army as possible for the 'sacrificial' hero. Save the game before engaging and then obliterate the sacrifical hero with the largest army with the hero who has the dynasty weapon. After battle is done the xp will be added to the weapon and you simply reload and defeat the sacrifical hero again. This grind is most effective if the one being killed has lots of high tier units in large amounts (i.e, skipping turns for roughtly a year and then killing a hero that has 900+ angles pretty much equals a level on a weapon). In addition, you can use the talent enlightenment for additional xp.
