Epoch Movie

What's more curious is that, while 'Arrival' was released just 3 years ago, this movie 'Epoch' was released 18 years ago, long before 'Arrival' was even on the drawing board. So, was 'Arrival' actually derivative of 'Epoch'.? The similarities are food for thought, but the two productions are otherwise as different as night and day.
