This Roman strategy game is a bit of a mash up between an arcade game and strategy. You start by generating revenue in the arcade element of the game by matching up resources such as food, wood, stone, iron and gold. With the revenue made you can then buy troops who can construct your buildings and eventually form an army to help develop the Roman Empire.

Although Rome itself, according to legend, was founded between 771 - 773 BCE, it couldn't actually be called an empire until it had its first emperor under the rule of Augustus Caesar, who became its first emperor in 27BC. Despite that, Rome was an empire in all but name having taken over the whole of modern day Italy by the 6th century BCE and then started making incursions into Europe itself from the 3rd century BCE onwards reaching the height of its power by the second century CE.
